Psychological Assessment

Dr. Vice Downing provides psychological assessment services for children, adolescents, and adults in Oregon. Assessment is designed to provide an accurate diagnosis and conceptualization of a person's mental health condition. This information is used to provide individually-tailored recommendations to improve day-to-day functioning. These recommendations often include requests for academic/work accommodations. At the conclusion of testing, Dr. Vice Downing will meet with you to discuss the results and recommendations.

Cognitive Ability and Achievement: Psychological assessments are often designed to evaluate learning disabilities in specific areas of academic functioning (e.g, reading, math). Psychologists are also trained to evaluate intellectual disabilities and other issues that may impact a person's ability to meet the demands of day-to-day life. If you or your child is struggling, it may be helpful to obtain a psychological assessment to address your concerns. Dr. Vice Downing provides these evaluations with warmth, respect, and careful attention to detail.

Psychiatric Conditions: When there are questions regarding diagnosis, treatment, or how to provide effective mental health services, psychological assessment is an incredibly valuable service. Some people have been misdiagnosed in the past, or they have concerns regarding the accuracy of the information provided to them by other mental health professionals. Dr. Vice Downing provides comprehensive psychological assessments that are designed to address you or your child's concerns and provide you with recommendations for future care.
